I just got an 88 S1954 with a DT466 and it will not stay in 4th gear. It has a CM4954 trans. I have an 88 S1954 with a 9.0L and a CM5552 trans. Just wondering if anyone can tell me if the 5552 can be used to replace the defective trans, I am getting ready to scrap the 84 and don't want to get rid of the trans if I can use it.

Any info is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Glenn

they seam to be considerably different, However they CAN or MAY have similar input shafts. If they have SAE bells than you might be able to fit, it wouldn't be a simple bolt in , but possible.

Well, I pulled the one off f the 9.0 today, (Truck was so rusty I pulled cab off the truck with the forklift, no cutting except steer shaft and clutch linkage, LOL) It definately has an SAE bell housing, I know the other truck does too, I guess I will have to pull the other one and compare them.

Thanks for the reply, I don't know how you guys find all this stuff, I have been looking for days and not came up with anything! :m03104:

Thanks again, Glenn

Boy looking at the breakdowns, they are definately different transmissions. I will have to get the other one apart and see what things look like. It can never be easy can it.

Thanks again

Google is my friend. I just searched Spicer and the model and looked for Tremec pdf files on them. TTC bought the Spicer line of transmission from the small to the large twin countershaft models.
