Looked at this one and thought very hard about picking it up. Think it's a 140" wheelbase.

Dual rear wheel? the other two must be the rare invisible option! 5 speed? possible, I suppose but would have to see it to believe it.

Nice truck! My L130 was a dually but I ran singles since I never really loaded it.

Another Craigslist vehicle with a "rebuilt engine". Yah, right. This kind of BS does nothing to motivate me to buy. Exit stage left

I guess I should have written a more complete note. I drove 200 miles roundtrip today to test drive it and was favorably impressed allowing for issues like rust spots, age and storage conditions.

True one owner, 88 year-old retired Navy machinist and I got to ask him questions. A relative is handling the sale. Bought as cab and chassis in San Diego and the old boy (young back then) built a custom camper body and took the family on trips (camper included). Put close to 100k on it over the years. Motor was rebuilt (I'm not sure when but for sure did some miles afterwards) and ran well on my test drive. I was there for the cold start, no blue smoke, little bit if a tick at first like a sticky lifter, idled it for 20 mins and then went for a spin. It's a 5 speed with granny first, shifted well and made no noises. Clutch (12") was great. Has the line set ticket.

Saw 4 rims in the shed, some with some pretty big offset that would work for going dual. RA15 axle with L and R lugs.

Here's what slowed me down: the bed is an 8', I think (forgot to measure), but the truck has about a 140" (142"?) wheelbase, so the rear axle sits off-center in the well by about 5". He bought the bed after he had built the camper. After camping season, he would remove the camper body and put the bed on for the rest of the year. Hard to see the rear wheel sitting far back in the pics in the advert. Obviously worked, given the patina and grime. Centering the bed over the axle would leave about a 10" gap between the cab and bed.

I could go into a lot more, but I expect the seller to list it here with more details, as I recommended the forum.

Are the the rear frame rails straight and not arched? Move the axle and springs and shorten the drive shaft. It also can be done by cutting and sectioning the frame but that has always made me squeamish ,it takes a lot of work to get it right and then there is the loss of originality to the truck depending how important that is.

All in all a pretty nice truck with a known history, I'd be tempted too!

As doubting Thomas needed to place his hand into the wound of Jesus, I invite you to come to beautiful San Diego, place your palm upon the ivory 5 speed shift knob, so that you too, may become a believer.
