So the guy who bought my first L truck just text me these pictures saying he wants $2,700 for this one with the title but has no clue when it last ran. It needs a windshield and he says it's solid Dakota truck just surface rust. He is firm on the price what do you guys think?

Need more and better pictures, but, I have seen ones like that go for that amount. Can he tell you if the motor will turn over, by hand? you know the story on that, it would probably run. If stuck, could only be minor and relatively quickly freed up. How far is it from you and what will it cost total to get it. Just my thoughts.

oh I'd defitely have to see in person. It's 217 miles from me and would fit on my trailer. My ford gets about 18mpg towing full. So getting it here would be "cheap". He said hes never tried turning it as he was going to pop it on a dodge dakota frame, but will check if he has time.

Based on no real market value but more on the money that would have to be spent on that truck starting with the shot out glass and the long list of things that will turn up like tires, brakes, clutch and beyond or way beyond I would not be happy paying more than $2,000.00 for it and I would be happier at $1,800.00. The price of auto parts, paint.....well just about everything keeps going up and up. I got my 56 S120 4x4 in way better shape for $3,700.00 with all new tires, a reupholstered seat and was able to drive it home under its own power. Not to say I haven't already spent some on it and I have more to do but I approached the seller from that stand point of the cost of getting it on the road in the most basic form and got him down from his $5,000.00 asking price.

Nice. This guy paid 2700 plus a 12 HR tow home. So hes real firm and yea I think it's high too. But then again I haven't found much anywhere near me and that dump truck would have been $3,400 total to my door and still needed bodywork.

With that being the case and the prospects around you are slim I'd buy it. More than once I've bought something when my head said no but my heart said yes and was never sorry. Life is short get it if you can. I hope it all works out for you!

I just called the guy and confirmed my serious interest. Sent me more photos. Said he pulled the driver's front fender and hammered out the dents already. I gotta shrink the pics so I can post

I've been in a similar situation, with a 54 R-120. But-this was described as- running and driving. Good that you're going to see it in person.
I bought mine (from a 1500 mile distance), after being convinced by a multitude of photos. It did turn out to be solid, yes;
however, it ended up needing a total over-haul, brakes drums specifically-sourcing those (as the 3/4 drums are nearly unobtainable) was extremely difficult and expensive. After (finally)finding someone I could trust to complete the work, and spending a bunch of money , the engine ended up failing after a just few 100 miles. Long story short, it was very expensive. If you're doing the work yourself, that will be all the difference, though.
