L-160, not mine

Love this. Wish it was closer.

Up for sale is my 1956 International L160 dump truck. Her name is Claire-Bell. She is a 2 ton truck. Runs, moves, and dumps! Has no brakes. It's a 4 speed with a split rear end. Rear end shifts into high and low with no problem. Inline 6 cylinder. Truck needs work to be put back on the road, but is not a lost cause. I have the original bench seat (needs recovering) tail gate with asphalt chute, ashtray with "International" written in cool 50's vintage script, spare transmission, and a few other odds and ends I'm forgetting. I have to many projects at the moment and this one keeps getting pushed to the back burner. Asking 2300. Call to come see it.

Re: L-160, not mine

Something is amiss with this ad. How could it be an L model and be a 1956. I’m aware that some states registrations determined the truck’s year as being at the time registration took place, but that makes this truck at least 3 - 4 years after the model was manufactured. Strange.

Yes, it sat on the dealer's lot for quite a while if it was first titled in '56. R series heavy trucks (190 and up?) were built til '68, but not L series.

Re: L-160, not mine

If you look at the pictures, you will see that this is a hidden hinge truck, thus should be a 1950. Depending on where it was, it could be possible to have set for a period of time, or it could have been a "city" truck which might not have required a "title" when purchased. When sold by the "governmental" agency, it would have then gotten a Title. Nice truck.

Re: L-160, not mine

You will need a bigger trailer. One that can carry the weight of at least 8,000-10,000, would be my guess.

The cab and chassis should weigh about 5100 pounds as a 4X4. I would add about a 1000# for the steel box and this should be close.
I would rather have tools I do not need than to need tools I do not have
