The cab and chassis should weigh about 5100 pounds as a 4X4. I would add about a 1000# for the steel box and this should be close.
that sounds more manageable!

Re: L-160, not mine

So Connecticut doesnt title old cars. I've emailed the owner with some questions about how he arrived at 1956.

Re: L-160, not mine

If you decide to get the truck, please get a larger trailer, too close to trailer weight. You will need a trailer that can carry combined total weight in the 8,000 range. Ask me what happens when a trailer and tires rated for 6,000 goes at over weight for 400 mile trip. Oh, it blew the tires on one side.

Oh, it blew the tires on one side. You did not wait for me to ask, as you suggested. :biggrowl:

Uh ya. If I went after anything this large I'd have to find larger equipment.

Re: L-160, not mine

This gentleman responded to my inquiry and said I was the second person to email him and tell him it was a 1950. He said it was sold to him by the previous owner as a 1956 with a Connecticut registration for 1956 and the Connecticut does not require titles on vehicles prior to a certain year. He said he has that previous registration and would provide it with a bill of sale. Anyone going to go after this?

When this quotes overall width at the rear of a chassis cab, I guess thats the track width of the duals?

Overall width, rear, should be outside of rear to rear tire with standard tire size. Track width for single wheels is center-of-tire to center-of-tire. Track width for dual wheels is center of both left tires to center of both right tires. Assuming the offset is the same for all four wheels, which it should be, this is the point where the wheels face each other.

Re: L-160, not mine

Somehow back in 2011 I managed to move my L-160 flatbed from DC to NC. I just found these photos... that trailer doesn't look that giant.
