Re: IH Tow Truck

Looks like it's actually an FWD. IH sold cabs to a few other companies.

Re: IH Tow Truck

Yep, FWD not a M series IHC. Someone on ATHS or JOT did a list of companies that used the Comfo-vision cab and I was surprised how long a list is was.
The M series IHC wasn't a military model, rather it was a mixer (as in cement) truck designed for heavy construction work like Macks DM series, it was replaced by the Paystar series. The FWD looks a fair bit like the M series, which was the last IHC to use the comfo-vision cab, well into the late 60's

Re: IH Tow Truck

Interesting bed, looks like it was built for some purpose with rails for something and it had long gin poles that would store in pockets along the side of the bed. It was never a tow truck. The short pole set-up it has now is likely a later addition. My guess it was used either for some sort of rail work with a cart that would store on the rails (like scale test truck). Neat old truck, wouldn't kick it out of my barn just because it is not IHC!
