Seized engine, but running when parked? What they do, pull the oil plug an leave it running after they parked it?

I've seen it happen where a good running engine can seize up solid just from sitting for years without turning over. Any of mine that I want to save I make sure to turn the engine over once in a while. Maybe pour some oil in the spark plug holes or carburetor.

Re: 77 Travellette

I was more poking fun at the description, it was running when parked and then seized, Kinda like "to loose one parent is a tragedy, to loose two sounds like carelessness to me"! (the importance of being Ernest)

Good response Mister Goff.

Re: 77 Travellette

Back when I was mechanic we picked up a 73 Vette that had been partially restored (Newly rebuilt engine and trans only in need of paint and upholstery) and then put in a barn for twenty years. Somehow mice had made their way into the valley and had built a nest there, the valley was full of paper and such and the lifters were all rusted solid into the block. We had to use a cold chisel to break up the lifters. Needless to say we had to completely rebuild an engine that had less than 500 miles on it and was "running when parked."
