Re: D-1 Minus Cab FS in Fresno TONIGHT

I went to get D-1 parts in Fresno, today. I observed:
1) Make a will, NOW. This truck came to me via probate court via Fresno County Public Administration.
Somebody cared very much for this truck and their family lost it to probate. Restoration had begun, although I woulda left it alone. Internal wood framing still has paint on it. :)
2) This truck was beautiful BEFORE they took it apart. It must've rarely been used and been mostly inside.
Sheetmetal is to die for!
3) Has retrofitted GRD flattie. Looks to be rebuilt?
4) All the little goodies down to hubcaps and cool rad cap are there?
5) Missing wire spoke wheels?
6) The rest comes home on Friday and this weekend.
7) Comes with extras...
8) Willys/IHC D-1 cab is even more of a puzzle piece than C Series!

I will second the having a WILL, However, it needs to be a spillover Will. If you do not know what I am talking about. Quick and dirty. Check laws in your state first. Then set up a Trust, with anything NOT named in the trust being handled by the spillover Will, which puts it squarely back into the Trust. You and Your Spouse can be Trustees of the Trust, with secondary Trustees.
When my Second wife died, suddenly, everything that we owned went to me, WITHOUT Probate. Even Items that were only in her name. I am a firm believer in having a Trust, with a spillover Will.

I have never heard of a spillover will. So sorry to hear about your second wife, Lloyd.

Re: D-1 Minus Cab FS in Fresno TONIGHT

Some more pics.
I have a C-1 in pieces and this stuff looks very similar.
Ford used transverse springs. Other makes did not. So this frame is probably similar to ANY non-Ford
pickup frame of the era?
I had to apologize to the Public Administrator representative for not bringing a larger vehicle to load parts. I defended myself by saying the auction pics left out about a third of the truck! AND the auction folks were adamant there was NO MORE of the truck to be found. No wonder I won the auction! Everyone else thought the truck was missing too much.
So I drove up in a little minivan without rear seats. Usually plenty of space...
Comes with extra manifolds, flywheels, clutches.
The exhaust system looks good enough to reuse. Now THAT'S RARE!

Re: D-1 Minus Cab FS in Fresno TONIGHT

I may not have the proper terminology, but what I call a spillover Will does, is when one or both persons die, all items that belong and are not already named in the Trust, automatically become "property" of the Trust. Can not be probated. It already spells out exactly what happens and how. At least that is how it is in Idaho.
Thank you for your condolences Sir, it is never easy to lose someone. It happened in March 08. Life goes on for the rest of us.

You sir have made a great buy on that vehicle!

Here's one in a little more complete state, he had it listed for $10k last year, been steadily dropping price,

says no title, I might contact him about it,

I made an appointment to get the rest of the D-1 parts on Friday morning and Sunday afternoon.
I'm jazzed.

Deja vu all over again? Deja Vu is all over again. Just saying.
