Crazy upper door hinges! I've never seen door hinges like these. More like hood hinges?
Driver's side is cracked.

Cowl/ windshield frame. Please note that "A pillars" are seperate from cowl on C Series. This D-1 cowl section is "more advanced", yet older?

Re: D-1 Minus Cab FS in Fresno TONIGHT

Just in case anyone ever wants to know, the 1933 Willys/ IHC D-1 frame "VIN" tag is as shown. About 8 inches in front of the steering pitman shaft, not stamped into the frame like IHC. Instead, it's stamped on a oval aluminum tag.
BTW, the front of the Willys/ D-1 frame has an extra jog or step in it that no other old pickup frame has, I think. It's where the frame goes under cab. Very strange looking.

Pickup bed looks good, so far.
I think the tailgate may nearly be worth what I paid for the truck. Just so nice?

The overall effect of the truck is sorta IHC but not IHC. The bed looks very similar, the axles look very close to a C-1. The original engine is missing but IHC DID buy and use a Willys-designed motor.

BTW, column shift?? NOT floor shift?

Re: D-1 Minus Cab FS in Fresno TONIGHT

I just noticed a common problem from "waay back when" on my D-1. I don't think the GRD harmonic balancer will clear the front crossmember. My C-30 had a chunk of crossmember gone to clear the later GRD, for example.
Has anyone successfuly run a HD dampner on their GRD? I suspect it would be OK. The two engines are nearly identical.

GRD 214 doesn't have a harmonic balancer, GRD 233 does,

Put in a 214?

Re: D-1 Minus Cab FS in Fresno TONIGHT

It appears that the engine currently in the D-1 is the bigger one. I believe that because it came with a very thick flywheel. Of course, I can look at the pad on the engine....:)
It appears the engine was rebuilt and mounted in the frame. That's when the larger 233 balancer was removed because it wouldn't fit...
I only have good 233s, right now. :(

My favorite D-1 photo, so far. This truck is a survivor! Check out weight ratings on door?
