I like this truck. BUT, I would also like to keep the $50+K it will take to make it right, again.

Re: Very cool 34 IHC panel

It's amazing!
I've been told by IHC Haters that the C Series is the only pretty IHC truck. This UPS version is uber cool!
Mechanically, it would be a relatively inexpensive fix. Some hot rodder's good cast off C/D/K Series engine, trans, frame parts would fix it, no?
Cosmetically and body-wise....watch out!
Still, I've never see another. Have you? It deserves preservation.
So many eye-popping details! I love it!
I give it an A+. Even the "haters" would like it.
Nikki...keeping my hypothetical $50k is easy because I don't have it!
My plan would be to make it wonderful mechanically (cheaply, it's possible!), and treat the body work like the many "honeydew" chores I have at home...time frame for completion is highly flexible.
It's the concept that progress is being made, however slowly, that fills my heart with gladness.

Never seen this coachworks before, probably Not factory made, very cool,

I agree mechanically EZ, just get a hot rodders rejects, but boy there is some major body work needed.

Re: Very cool 34 IHC panel

30 years ago, I had a well equipped sheetmetal shop. I had the machinery, experience, interest and tools to take on a project like this. Most of the panels are flat with some shop made folding on the edges. In 30 years, things have changed, for me. One side of my head say, "Yes we can" and the other side says no you cant. I would really like to take on this project, but, I have changed. My space will not accommodate this truck, so, I cannot take on a big project like this, now. Old age and other project creeping in change everything.
I left my brain off-leash for a few minutes and I was imagining this truck in two tone green and Cummins 4bta powered with the possibility of 4X4. This is when I snapped back to reality, I got a cramp in my right shoulder. I think this is a repetitive motion injury.
Some time ago, I spotted a "just right" ex-bodyshop for sale. It is 10 blocks from home. The price seemed just right. And the 5000 square feet of shop space with a 20 foot ceiling plus other developed space was just what I needed. I could move everything IHC into one space.
I went home to get my wife and her approval, because there was just under a million dollars involved. We made arrangements to go for a viewing in an hour. By the time we arrived for a good look, the property had sold for $978,500 and had relisted for $1,950,000. We were out. A week later the property and shop had changed owners again and the final price was $2.5 million. The building has been repurposed into a retail business. This sort of property inflation has been going on here for more than a decade. Blaming this sort of inflation on absentee investees is frowned on, so I will not make that suggestion. But, ......... you know.

Re: Very cool 34 IHC panel

When I'm very overwhelmed (like I would be on this truck), my focus narrows down to square inch by square inch.
There's no way for me to take in the scope of body repairs needed here unless it's in tiny portions.
I'd try to rebuild a door (I've done C series doors) or take out a tiny ding in a fender, first.
AND then call it a great day! This truck will be a show-stopper!
Thanks for showing us a bit of heaven, BRJ.

Re: Very cool 34 IHC panel

yea, if I had a big shop with tons of metal shapers, & brakes this would be tempting,

but I'm limited by lack of shop space to bolt on replacement & minor hammer/dolly type body work
