VCO-190 about to be scrapped unless...

It's got a really nice cab. Wonder how much that V-549 burns just driving around a cab and chassis like that?

You should buy it and find out :)

His price is probably about double what he will get at the scrap yard.

Be a real shame if it's scraped. It looks to be in decent shape and there are so few of the CO/VCO's left. Heck, the fire pump is still there which might be worth something to the right person. Lot's of folks out there that restore fire apparatus and pumps are "generic".

I am trying to count the pedals in this unit. Is it an automatic transmission truck? There was one of these for sale locally in a hideous green but it had a nice hydraulic crane system on it. The thought of ever owning one of these will never happen because we live in the city and I would not even be allowed to drive off the truck route to get home for coffee. If I tried to park over-night, the trolls from their man-caves would have the parking police on me, in a New York Minute. Maybe I could bribe them with bottles of San Pellegrino.

I'd think harder about saving it if it wasn't so far away. To tell you the truth, I think these cabs are ugly, but this one is in too good of shape to be scrapped.

Nikkinutshop, I'd say it's a 5-speed manual, at least there's a shift pattern decal on the dash. But I see what you mean about the pedals.

I drove one of those home from an auction for I guy I was working for. The shifter was so loose, it was almost impossable to find a gear. Got it home tho.

For the era that REO designed that cab (ca.1954) it was probably the best looking of all in that truck class. Take the White 3000 for instance, fugly!

Now that I think about it, you're right. I just pulled out Big Rigs of the 1950's and flipped through it thinking there had to be something that looked better but there isn't. None of the lighter weight class COs look good to me. If the axle ain't up against the bumper, it ain't right. I was thinking more along the lines of heavier KW, Pete, and Freightliner but that's comparing apples to oranges.
