'68 1200C Factory Diesel

This one intrigues me because I like IH diesel engines in IH trucks.

I believe d301's were also used in IH 815 combines. The engine in this truck has a turbo. I wonder how much power it has now?

As far as I recall the D301 was never turbo charged from the factory. The LST would show that,it would be a DT301. It must have been "Special Equipment" in that truck,it's not even in the MT-118 parts book or the factory spec sheets at the WHS.
Wasn't very powerful either,I found this...
In 1961 the B-160 and BC-160 became available with International's new small diesel engine. The 112-hp D-301 6-cylinder engine was an enlargement of the D-282 tractor engine.

Some interesting info on them though...

Still would be cool to own and very likely a one of a kind. 8-)

Re: '68 1200C Factory Diesel

Over the years, I have seen more then one 301 pick-up and many stated it was ordered that way. From what I read and have seen, it does look like the 220, 240 265 block. I know the Aus and NZ got a 282 or 281 version of that block (gas) that we didn't get. The 282 qnd 301 also turn up Marineized under the Palmer engine lable.
Just as the 308 was avaiable in the Loadstar, but few survive. I bet there are a handful of these diesel pick-ups at least some of which seam to be factory, and some retro-fits.
Dieselized gas blocks do not have a good reputation no matter who made them. Neither do gas versions of the diesel block (look at Whites, Giesel, a Cummins diesel converted to gas), which is more surpizeing.
I worked on a fleet of M.A.N. diesels that were de-tuned for LPG, and I don't know if it was the throttled intake or just that they were old and run out, but we had problems with them.
