Re: 1948 Build

That is an Australian truck or UTE. IHC built trucks is a few countries.
This crewcab was an IHC special build in very limited numbers. I have this one in dry storage, now. Not Australian. Made in Ohio.

Re: 1948 Build

The average price to ship a car from USA to Australia ranges from $2100 to $4020, and the duties to import a car to Australia from USA are duty of the value of the vehicle + $1500 to $2500 for local charges in Australia. :t2102:
I imagine the cost going this way would be about the same.

Re: 1948 Build

My neighbor was involved in shipping an old REO sedan to Australia last summer. He had several conversations with the buyer regarding shipping and customs requirements. He had to gut the interior because of potential weed seeds, remove the brake lining, clutch disc, and head gasket because of asbestos, and drain all fluids. It didn't have to be a running vehicle, but it had to have good enough tires on it to be a roller. I don't know anything about the costs, duties, taxes, tariff's or shipping costs but it had to be trucked from Minnesota to the west coast and put in a container to be shipped. Spendy to say the least.

Slospeed, one of the members of this forum lives in Australia. He imported a Cummins 4bta. He wanted to repower a truck. His detailed adventure is a good read on frustration. He is a Professional Slasher. In North America, that is called grass cutter or mower operator.
I have not heard from Slospeed in few years. I might try contacting him. He may have something interesting to add to this forum.

Re: 1948 Build

I sold my 1937 GMC to a guy in Maui, it cost him less to put it on a container ship than it did for me to get it from Wisconsin to Washington state.
