Re: L series pickup

According to the WHS serial number list, 1950 model year production started on Dec 1, 1949. So it would have to have been built, shipped, sold and titled in December.
I don't know the serial number of the changeover to exposed door hinges, but I'm pretty certain that it was more than a month into production. Unless the door hinges were changed after it was built?

Re: L series pickup

This truck has visible door hinges, if it was a 50' L, the hinges would have been hidden. So it most likely is a 51' or 52'.
Just one of the many things I have learned from the many knowledgeable members on this site.

Re: L series pickup

I have mentioned this several times. I have had 14 of the L&R pickups. Most of them went for parts. I do not remember paying more than a $100 for any of them. I paid $200 for my Dad's R120. I spent $26,500 on it, drove it for 20 years and 225,000 miles then gave the truck away.
I am pleased to see a new interest in Old IHC because this might preserve the brand.
My longer term plan for the parts we do not use is to have Scout Pluss http://scoutpluss.com/ sell them.
I would rather have tools I do not need than to need tools I do not have
