Dean, I have a transistor radio (AM) out of 60"s Fleetstar (Actually still in the truck) that looks similar. Might be better than cutting up and old tube radio. I'd have to go look but I think it has the International logo. Might even work for all I know.
I remember back when we used to put "FM Converters" on the old AM radios to listen to FM Broadcasts that were fast replacing the AM stations.
Went out and looked, and neither had the International logo but the radios had knobs and the faces look like they would be appropriate to a 50's or 60's truck.

Re: 1950's Radio

Pulled the radio and hooked a speaker, applied 12 volts and the light comes on, the speaker "clicks" with the radio powering up but could not pull in a radio station. I would assume that the amplifier section is working but the RF section is inop.

Tempted, but did you hook an antenna up to it? might help to pull in a station?

Re: 1950's Radio

Had a short wire hooked to the antenna jack, should have pulled in the local station if the RF section was any good, so I assume it is bad.
