1946 IH Wrecker

This would make an excellent piece of yard art or advertisement vehicle! https://www.purplewave.com/auction/2405 ... k-Missouri

Re: 1946 IH Wrecker

Neat! has the fairly rare front hub caps missing the rear, battery box cover and the sling for the tow rig. Looked to have the Holley carb (not many used that) and the Centra-vac governor.
It has what I would call a "Chicago boom" type tow rig. Doesn't look like the 2 spd is hooked up to vacuum. All in all we worth the current bid.
If I didn't already have mine, I'd be all over that one.

Looks like it might be a BD 308 , and an Overdrive trans , well worth the currant bid ,if it hasn't sold

Re: 1946 IH Wrecker

2 give-a-ways that it is not a 308 (not including the 308 wasn't made back then) is the 1bbl carb and the oil filter arrangement (Deluxe bypass type).
Should be the 269.
What I find interesting is the low GVW (16500) which is what my K-7 is. I would guess it was made for the military as mine was. My KB-7 has a GVW of 21500.
edit:
Pick's are kind of fuzzy, but you may be right in one respect, it does looking like someone made a plate and put the Holley 2bbl on, I still think it is a 269 based on the oiling.

Re: 1946 IH Wrecker

sold for $3,850

ID plate says K-7 269.

my 250 in my KB-6 has that same two barrel carb intake, comes off Red engine, bolts right up,

looks like same thing here, farmer version of hotrodding their truck

I don't think the RED manifold will bolt up. The BD 308 had that 2bbl and it will bolt up but the ports on the head are smaller on the BLD 269 than the BD 308

did a 269 come with a 2 barrel intake? because whatever is on my 250 bolted up, I have no idea where is came from , was one the truck in 1983 when I got it.
