About the wood I used for the truck bed:
Its green washed tong and grove apitong hardwood , use extensively in the industry for truck trailer beds.
Its supported under with uni-struct spacers and fastened on the existing metal bed with recessed 3/8 brass ship bolts , locks and nuts drilled through and attached to the under bed ribbing.

I also used it for the bed stakes supporting the crown and on the tailgate. The stuff is a very dense grain
and harder than oak planking.

Strong box goes with it , including the Kennedy box in the corner with all
tools required for tune up , Timing light , Dwell meter and more.
The truck is a labor of love all around. I want to keep the flag & pole as they
were used with the truck during special military presentations over the years ,

Final note of importance:
Though not 100% original due to some wood enhancements that include a tailgate insert,
rear bumper , bed crown and interior details to this otherwise all
stock refurbished rig.
All wood enhancements including the interior cab doors ,the kick-panels , the headliner ,the cab floor and , the exterior running board trim strips , Some of this not shown in these posted photo lots.
as well as the tailgate are fastened directly to original components in such as way , so not to alter the integrity of truck as build. No metal screws ect..

Re: Silver Diamond SD240 for sale

Hey Steve? Is this truck a three speed or a four speed?
I would rather have tools I do not need than to need tools I do not have

Main reason I reposted ,
Looking for a shipper out of Idaho Falls to California
June time frame, a buddy told me sometimes
truckers have empty loads when returning to their home base and
can pick it up and delivery for reasonable costs.
I know Google is my friend but,
Any recommendations here would also be appreciated.

Be safe -

Re: Silver Diamond SD240 for sale

I should have known. The under-hood picture does not show the 3 speed linkage on the lower column.
I am getting better. It has been a long journey. I was "circling the drain" for about 6 months. Sepsis can be fatal.
Tomorrow might be the day I attempt going to the garage.
I wish I could make a serious offer on your IH. I do not have a good dry place to keep it. I would refuse to leave it outside.

Re: Silver Diamond SD240 for sale

Nice truck, nice write-up. $8500 is a deal, here on the east coast that would be 10k plus I bet.

Re: Silver Diamond SD240

Thanks ,
My close friends do not want me to sell.
I have been off / on with it for a long while,
Brain can attest to that,
Kind of like giving up a child, it was my dads work truck and he and I
spent many a mile in it , well before I restored it.
Ice cream spoon in the glove box from those days.

The wife and some will never understand, and thats fine,
I don't need the money - Fortunate I am !

My buddy and I are going to make a fishing trip at August end
back to Idaho, where it be , and bring it back to my shop here in Sunnyvale Ca,
I will decide once it gets back..

Cheers - sm

Re: Silver Diamond SD240

Well I did make the trip back with Harvey from Idaho to California
I have not officially listed the old truck for sale
for now I will keep it covered in the shop..

Taking it out or a drive every once in a while.
Don't and not interested in car shows the one in West Yellowstone
was the one and only , it was good time.

I do like the various truck forms and the opportunity
to locate parts the are becoming harder to to find with the
passing years. These trucks will only become-more valuable
as time passes.

Re: Silver Diamond SD240

Did you drive it home? Maybe now that it's closer to you, you'll want to keep it.
