State of Affairs (from an old guy's perspective)

As we move closer to another year of OldIHC, I have to reflect back to how we did things years ago. ugh, maybe I don't want to go there.
But, moving onward into the future, I am visioning a re-organization of everything.

To start with, you will begin to see the various programs that we have move into a more organized setup.
ie: http://gallery.oldihc.info, http://classifieds.oldihc.info, http://forums.oldihc.info, etc..

With all the $$ that was donated these past few months, I am able to do things that were only dreams in my wallet.
Things like getting better quality software in some of the above areas.

To all you old guys that have been in and out of the hospital but are still hanging in there, please stay with us. There will be bumps in the road as we move along. I am hoping that I will not be in the hospital for the next few months, or more). Made too darn many trips to Mayo this past summer.

As always, your comments are more than welcome. OldIHC is for you, not me.

I for one appreciate all the effort you put into this website. Even though my project is just getting started, OldIHC has become my number one resource for research. Thanks!

Working on OldIHC stuff keeps me from going totally nuts..
Sitting at home most of the time is boring as all get out during the winter.

Re: State of Affairs (from an old guy's perspective)

Upgrading the systems.
Earlier, I mentioned that the organizational aspects of OldIHC would be going through some changes.
The planned structure:
http://forums.oldihc.info
http://gallery.oldihc.forums
http://classifieds.oldihc.info
etc.
To a certain extent, all of the above is functional. You just may not see it as I am using re-directs to make some things work.

The forums and gallery are in good shape and functioning just fine right now.
Our existing classifieds died during an upgrade a week or two ago. And since there is little to no support from the authors to help fix it, I ventured out to find a new classifieds system. I found one that is way more that what we need, but I am having visions of this system taking us much further than where we have been in the past.

This new classifieds would be open to everyone, members and non-members free, donations accepted, etc..
Not only are we going to have cars, trucks and parts, but IH refrigerators, etc.

Here is where you can help.
I would like it if you can offers suggestions on the categories. Appliances, one lungers, etc.
Is there something I missed? Something not working? Etc.

Jim

I just had a look and am I correct that it will allow any brand/type of vehicle to be advertised. If so I think that might be a negative for a site that is set up for OLD IHC trucks as its main base.

Re: State of Affairs (from an old guy's perspective)

Trevor,
In it's current state, it will support almost all makes and models of cars, trucks, etc.
Two thoughts on this...
1. Early on, we were thinking of monetizing the system and let it take care of the costs for everything we get donations for now.
2. Then we thought, ok, don't let the other "brand owners" in, but leave it for IH trucks only.
3. Most recent thought... I want to sell my car. Do I use "our" board to sell it, or go to another where I do not know the people.

The whole thing is up in the air right now. Brain is in overload..

It should be ok if it's monitored. Never thought about donations of goods.
