Ups and Downs

Sunday morning, Dec. 8

I've been working on getting a new version of our bad IP blocking system up on the server this morning. Occasionally I would get the site blocked for everyone. Including me. The upside of this is that I was able to find all the errors in the IP blocking table and get them fixed.

Most of you probably have no idea what Lloyd and I go through all day long trying to keep the bad guys off of our site.
If it wasn't for Lloyd's vigilance in tracking new users, we would have been inundated with spammers.

Re: Ups and Downs

Occasionally, with the "new" 128bit IP's they do not show up on my sites that I check for bad IP's and emails. Hence the one who slipped through this morning. He actually registered on the 26th of November and checked out clean. He is gone and Whole IP range is blocked.

Anybody interested in helping? :p1003:

Re: Ups and Downs

On my end, you need to be able to handle some basic html code.
From time to time I do get into some heavy stuff, but not that often.

From Lloyd's end, I think you have it covered. You just need to have a good handle on how to get around.
If you are applying, you're hired.
Wages are just the satisfaction that you helped someone.

Re: Ups and Downs

Just to let everyone know, Lloyd and I are not leaving, we are here till the day we go 6' under.
None of us are getting any younger. We are looking for help so that we can be sure that someone will be there to handle things if anything happened to either of us. I hope this covers the "why" we are looking for help part.

Re: Ups and Downs

keep doing a great job Jim and Lloyd. time and clear knowledge of anything other than the on/off switch rule me out.
