Hello from Erhard Minnesota

Hello all,

Joined up about a month ago and thought it about time to introduce myself. I have always loved IH trucks and farm equipment, ever since I was young and would walk to the end of our long driveway to wait for Dad to get home from work so I could sit on his lap and steer his 56 IH panel truck down the driveway.

I'm 66 now and retired and love to putz in my shop. I worked in the Pipe Trades as a Plumber/Welder for 40 years, and also took about a 5 year break from that to dairy farm. I still live on the farm and do some field work.

My 1st 4wd was a Scout 800 and wish I still had it. I recently picked up a 48 KB-5 that I am looking to make road worthy again. I haven't got it home yet ( or told my wife about it ) but am anxious to do so. My wife is supportive of my hobbies because as she says " if I want to find you, I know you're in the shop or in the field so I don't have to call the saloons or the casino ", we get along just fine.

I am looking forward to making new friends on this site and have thus far had a ball reading through all the info on here.

I thank all who take the time to post information on here.

Re: Hello from Erhard Minnesota

Welcome Sir! Always nice to have the support of the other half of a team if Married. I just sold a 41 K1 to a almost 90 year old fellow. He is having the work done, I am assisting the shop owner in finding things needed. It is a fun/frustrating/rewarding/and sometimes long process to get one of our machines back on the road, especially if you "want it original" Other than yourself, if you can not find original replacement running gear parts, no one will probably know that it isn't if you upgrade for safety and drive-ability. Have Fun, look forward to seeing you on the forum.
