Re: Bigole'61

Here's my rig. It's a 61, it did it's duty at Camp Mercury, Nevada, where the A bombs were tested in the 50's. Some day I shall pass a gieger counter over it. Old 'Joe' bought it, converted it to an RV lived in it, died in it. A friend of mine bought it, he, wife, 2 boys, 3 dogs lived in it for about 6 years. It was moved 2-3 times in about 10 years and sat unloved, unmoved for about 5 years.
I bought it in Jan-12, spent about 5 months, 110 miles each way, getting it roadworthy. It's home now and I'm slowly redoing the RV concept. It has a Chevy 454 and Clark 5sp trans. Iv'e striped the inside and have started to patch all holes from vents, etc.

Nice save! That would make a great rig for going to shows this summer. Sounds like you're making great progress on it so far.

Re: Bigole'61

a neighbor bought an old school bus last summer and made an RV out of it. He travels all over in that thing. went to colorado somewhere over thanksgiving. he has a kitchen, bathroom, sleeping area, living area, air conditioning, generator. totally self contained.

old buses can be need and the one you have, given its vintage and the fact it is and IHC mades it even better.

Hay kjhogue, ask your neighbor if he is hooked up with Skoolies. They are as eccentric as oldhic owners.
Can any body recommend a power steering unit that would not require a massive engineering project?
