Hi,
My name is Woody. I am grateful for this forum. We have a 1940 D2 Pickup (213 cubic inch engine). The previous owner said that the generator was not working properly. The generator that is on there is a Delco Remy 935V, Serial # 324759. We took it to the local electrical shop, and they said that a couple of the brushes are in backwards and that they would check it for us. We have Service Manual CT- 140, and it shows the correct one is Delco Remy 946 P, with a clockwise rotation and positive ground. Can anyone shed any light on this...also, where might we find a generator. Did any of the parts for the IH Tractors also work for the pickups?? Just a question that came to mind. Also, we are looking for a Radiator cap. Should it be 7 lb pressurized or O lb pressure. We have found conflicting info on that. Thank you so much for any info or help. Panhead63

What brand is your Radiator cap, and what degree is your thermostat?
Thank you so much for your reply.

Hello,
The overflow tub is in the top tank of the radiator on my truck radiator, so I can use any cap that will fit on.

Tub and tube are not interchangeable. I think you may have meant "tube".
On a no pressure cooling system any cap will not make pressure. Some engines allowed some oil from the engine lube system to enter the water pumps. A pressured cooling system would back-feed into the oil as the oil pressure drops and put the engine at risk of bearing failure. An old sock and a rubber band to hold the sock in place will be as good as a 7# cap.

Our 1937 D2 has Stant #10203 zero pressure cap. Stant #13368 180 degree thermostat and #25138 gasket. Positive ground was original set-up. Can look at generator later.
