1952 L-130

:m03104:

I have a 1952 L-130 that I would like to sell and would like some input from Old IHC members on what the truck would be worth.
I just signed on and can send a few pics once I figure out how to post them.

Re: 1952 L-130

This truck was restored by B-L Industries in Wallhalla,N.D. who built live bottom and grain boxes for farmers so they built a custom box with hoist to compliment the truck. The truck was used for trade shows etc.

The owners wanted to retire and had no siblings to take the company over so they merely closed their doors.

Since I bought the truck I redid the brakes all around as well as replaced the master cylinder and flushed the system. Also replaced the carburetor and put a bladder in the gas tank. Runs like a Swiss watch.

The only thing needed on this cutie is a rear main seal on the engine which I have not had time to replace as I am busy working on my Highbinder. Pictures to follow if anyone wishes to see them.

I don't have any value numbers for comparison, but that is a very nice 130 series, maybe the best I've seen. The later all-steel bed puts it in a class by itself. Very few other trucks are going to be comparable.

Re: 1952 L-130

This is a 1957 IHC DC-405 Which I believe was the singe axle version and the DTC-405 was the tandem version. Has the original 200 Cummins engine with an 8 speed Roadranger.
The engine has been rebuilt at Cummins in Grand Forks,N.D. where it was line bored-counter bored-rebuilt 220 heads-pistons and sleeves-rods and mains-new injectors and fuel pump-water pump and also retracted the original build sheet for the motor from Cummins archives.

The frame was in such bad shape that I disposed of it and cab is now perched on a 2007 IHC 9400 running gear with the original steer axle and steering gear. Surprisingly the new frame is the same height and depth as the original. Front springs were replicated by Zenith Spring Co. in Duluth, Mn.

In it's first life it was first a single axle then later had a tag axle with a v belt running from the drive axle back to the tag in between the duals which did help with traction in icy conditions

Re: 1952 L-130

This is the original build sheet acquired from Cummins as well as a picture of the truck and original owner.

When I got the truck home the glovebox revealed cab cards with Raymond Transportation unit 274 on it.
I then called Al Koenig a past president of American Truck Historical Society and asked if they had anything in their archives on Raymond Transportation.
He found and sent me an old business card from Raymond which I had blown up into a full sized letterhead and guess what-the picture had unit 274 on the door.
