Very cool old truck and knowing the history makes it even cooler. Keep us posted on your progress.

Has anyone used a power cowl vent kit? If so what brand and how well does it work? What adaptations did you need to make? Here is one of many options I googled.

I like a cowl vent. Our 1940 Ford does not have enough room for the OEM cowl linkage and the Vintage Air system, something had to be done so both could occupy the same space. A modified BMW power headrest drive was up for the task of moving the cowl vent. If you use the forum search for cowl vent you will find some pictures and information. If you need more pictures I can post some tomorrow. I'm on my BlackBerry.
I did buy a Power vent drive and I thought it was money wasted. The unit I bought was under powered and poorly made.

Say, Lloyd, does this need moving to the L<R<S section?

Please post pictures of the cowl vent motor. I am about ready to sandblast, the cab and bed are unbolted.

Does anyone know if these come off the pillars? I took the 8 bolts off, I don't want to force it if it doesn't come off.

Thanks

Re: 1951 L 110 "Old Fishing Truck"

The drive motor is remote mounted and drives the rack-and-pinion transmission. Powering a cowl vent is not something I would normally consider, but, if I wanted to have the vent in the Ford, there were few options.
I was looking at some of the "R" vent linkages we have in stock. They do not move easily. I doubt that any of the power drives I have seen would be powerful enough. The bell-cranks do not have very much "throw" and would have some sort of increased travel and the mechanical advantage would be made worse. Power windows are much easier to install.

A few questions:

Does anyone know if the running boards, rear fenders, tailgate and bumper for a 1956 R short bed are the same as a 1951 L short bed?

Has anyone used a frame/drive train from a new 4x4 Toyota (Tacoma or 4Runner) for a L110 ?

Rock,
The running boards and rear fenders are the same. The tailgate will fit, but is stamped a bit differently. Probably not an issue if you are not going 100% original. Are you talking about the front bumper or rear bumper?
