New member building a custom pu 1947 KB-1

Hi, a couple of months ago I purchased a 1947 KB-1 and started searching the net for information. Found this group on another site and ran into the multitude of issues that it had, trying to open pages etc. I hope all the information has been saved and can be reintroduced to this new site, since it appeared to be very extensive. My truck will be a custom one and not a restoration to the original. I am going to install the body on a 1996 Dodge Dakota chassis and it will have a 327ci Chevy in front of an AX15 5 speed manual transmission. Should be a lot of fun to drive but not a dragster. So far I have the donor vehicle and have started collecting parts. I am changing the Dakota chassis over to 5 lug instead of the 6 lug axles it has now. I have the correct axles for the rear and hubs for the front. I am going to try to use as much of the Dakota in the build that I can to keep the cost reasonable. I should be able to sell the body parts from the Dakota to reimburse myself for the cost of it. I paid $600 for the truck and it has thrown a rod through the side of the block but the body and interior is in very good shape.
Enough for now. You'll probably hear from me from time to time as things progress. If there is any interest in a build thread, I would start one.

Welcome, and I agree with Dean. The build threads are what make this forum so much fun. Manny

Good looking trucks, Bill! I know you have a lot of fun with them. Mine is just a rough seed right now, but it will grow, I promise. Collecting parts now and disassembling the 47 KB-1. Mine was pulled home with an International too...a custom toy hauler, 1989 Ford E350 ex-ambulance with a 7.3 International Navistar Diesel.

You have a good base to start with, that truck looks solid. I like the tow rig.
