I am missing the driveline emergency brake that should be attached to the transfer case. I may have a line on one but I am a little confused about how it attaches to the transfer case and shaft and yoke for the driveshaft. Are the splines long enough to reach through the drum and into the yoke? I only have 1 not very high resolution pic of this set-up so any additional thoughts, experiences or images greatly appreciated.

These old engines are not as quiet as anything from the last 50 years, the engine is not as loud as the cooling fan. It is easy to mistake the noise as engine struggle.

I hear you on that! It is more of a whine-howl out of the transmission area that seems the loudest. So more when I am moving than revving the engine. I replaced the oil in both the transfer case and the transmission and that has helped a bit. I also know I am getting some good noise out of those super traxion tires. A radio might help - or make me completely deaf. I do love that it is up and running and I can work through the various improvements while I enjoy driving it and hauling stuff for the garden this spring. I had about 1700 lbs of cement blocks and gravel in the bed last weekend and I swear it drove better. Hardly compressed the springs at all - no struggle up the hills - what a beast! :)
