Re: Engine paint

There has always been crankcase ventilation. In the old days the crankcase vent was vented toward the road in an open unrestricted pipe. Because of emissions regulations the CC vent often goes into the intake of the engine. Smog Guy would have a better explanation.

Re: Engine paint

Well its been quite some time since i have updated. I've had quite a lot going on of late, so not had the time to get things moving. Anyway, got the cylinder back together and back in the truck. Over the last 2 weekends i've got everything bolted on and connected. Went to start her up today, only to find i have a small water leak and oil was squirting out of the side valve cover. Oil every where. Going to go and lie down in a dark room for a while. Luke

Re: Engine paint

Took the cover back off today, cleaned and used a gasket type sealer with the new gasket and still got oil leaking. So annoying. :t0174: :t0174: :t0174:

Re: Engine paint

Is the cover flat? Does the gasket fit well? Is it made of cork? Cork tends to shrink over time.

Re: Engine paint

Hi Dean, I'm thinking maybe I've over tighten them and maybe its warped a little. The gasket is a new one made of cork. I'll let you know how it goes. Luke
