'59 BC-150

Have described this truck in previous versions of this site.

I have described this truck as butt ugly, but very special to me. My daughter and her husband purchased a home and this truck was on the property. Of course, every time I visited them I went and looked at the truck. They tracked down the owner and got a title. On Christmas day 1997 they gave me the title - what a very special present.

Over the years I have worked on the truck to get it running and used it for some general local "hauling". I have been gathering parts for a total rebuild. Those parts include a 392, T35 and 6041 Brownie. Recently I purchased a 36 inch period correct sleeper.

In December (2013) I finally started the rebuild. I am having a ball gathering small parts for all the components.

Edit: Changed the link below to reflect that I have updated and relocated the project pages.

As time permits, I will update my very old "project page": http://beltguy.com/bc150/bc150.htm

Re: '59 BC-150

There were a LOT of trucks from that era that I'd consider much "uglier" than the AC/BC,take the GMC's like a 550 P-ewe! butt ugly!
I like the dual headlights of the BC or even the B over the A/AC,the front turn signal light look much netter then the round pedestal things used on early Loadstars too. Maybe a nicer looking grille or some chrome trim would look better though.

Btw,the thumbnails on your link page no longer work.

Don't be afraid to post pictures! I'm planning on putting a Spicer 5831 brownie in my L-160 so I'm interested in how yours goes in. A sleeper will be very unique, too.

I'm with Scottso. That line of trucks ain't my favorite to look at, but GMC had some that were downright hideous.

Scottso, I guess I have to consider the audience ;) We IH folks kind of like the looks of our "unique" trucks.

I noticed that the links to the advertising pages were broken. I did some looking in my files and can only find small JPGs of those ads. I need to see if I have the artwork somewhere that I can take better pictures of.

That page was plucked from an old site and needs a lot of TLC.

Jared, I plan to post some pictures when I get a chance. I am taking a lot of photos as I go along. Will change the present page to a project page when I get a chance.

Re: '59 BC-150

OK, I found the original advertisement pages and will work on getting them on the website.

In the meantime, here are a couple of pictures I posted on the original OldIHC website. The photos show the IHC toter home I built and used to tow the BC-150 to our place.

Looks like only the outside duals are installed in the pics.

Re: '59 BC-150

IMO IH had some good looking trucks overall when compared to other makes. There were exceptions though like the LC,RC,SC's but the big 3's like them weren't any better. The Sightliner and Conco are a couple more.
I'll have to try and find the pic of a BCF225D I stumbled on,pretty cool looking I think. Now that would be a unique (and rare) rig to own.

Is that a genny on the back of the toter? What in the world do you power with it???

For the thumbnails,if you can edit the page maybe try a different image host?

Re: '59 BC-150

Dean, it was quite a while ago that I towed it home. I think I could only find four tires that were good enough to make the 20 mile trip. Now has duals on and old Michelins. Have some great 225 by 19.5 to put on.

The rims are riveted. I wish I could find somewhere to buy just the 19.5 rim hoops.

Scottso, I can easily modify the page in Frontpage. I am not sure what I used on Earthlink, but I was very glad to get rid of them. Now use Godaddy.

Yes, that is a 10KW diesel generator. I bought it for my bus conversion project, but mounted it there while I worked on the bus. A real case of overkill, but works great in the bus. My bus conversion project pages are here: http://beltguy.com/Bus_Project/busproject.htm Warning: site has a ton of detail that most folks will quickly get bored with {grin}.

OK folks. Too cold to work in the shop today, so I decided to update the very tired old website. Here is the link:

http://beltguy.com/bc150/bc150.htm

That address has changed from my original post. However, I updated that post to reflect the correct address.

Re: '59 BC-150

Hey Jim! it has been a long long while since we conversed on OLD IHC! I'm thinking 6 years, or so? Nice to see you back. I haven't made my model of the BC 150 yet, and still have the cd you sent me many years ago. Model making is a very very tricky business, but I haven't given up. I believe you are the only one with the BC line. The museum in Lethbridge, Alberta has 2 170's. If you remember,...you will be the recipient of the first copy, when I get it together.
