Wiring Harness Confusion

It would have been secured to the switch itself. What you are seeing is the contacts the switch contacts when it makes the connection. Most likely the switch fell (came) apart.

Thanks for noticing my absence.
Open heart surgery in early December slowed me down for several weeks but I am back to almost normal now.
I don't post too often as most questions are answered by the time I read them and there are lots of good experienced IH folks on this board.
I'll add my .02 when I have info that hasn't already been provided.
