1958 A-120 4x4 re-gearing differential?

Hi folks - this is something of a continuation of my what is the top speed of an A-120 4x4 thread...

I am thinking about the possibility of re-gearing my differentials. I think the front (an FA15 with 4.55 ratio) is essentially a Dana 44 and I can find the ring and pinion set to bring it to a more useful (for me) ratio of 3.73.

The rear I am scratching my head about! It is an RA10 (according to my Line Setting ticket) and it currently has a 4.77 ratio. I have attached photos.

Does anyone know if there are ring and pinion sets available for this rear axle/differential? Were they ever made in 3.73?

Hi Mad. According to my IH parts manual the RA10 came in 3 ratios, 4.1, 4.77 and 5.13. If you ever decide to part with your 4.77 let me know.I need one!

Hi Barnrat -

Thanks for your notes. I got a set of 4.1's (front and rear) from RJ at outback parts in washington state. He needs my 4.77 as a core in return.
So that means he should have it in a couple of weeks. I have to send it to him next week. Give him a shout and maybe we can coordinate this like a baseball trade :)
