1958 A-120 Brake Drum

I would like to get my rear brake drums turned on my 1958 A-120, RA-10 rear end with 12"x2" brakes. I was wondering if anyone had the "maximum diameter" specs for these drums.

Brake drum maximum diameter dimension is typically cast into the edge of the drum.

It has been for a long time, but I don't know that they were doing that in 1958. I didn't find any diameter markings on the drums from my '56 S120.

Unless they are so chewed up that you can never use them without taking them down to smooth. consider just smoothing them out a bit. even if there are rivet grooves, you can put a thicker material on the shoe itself and they will wear into the groves. Just my thoughts.

In PA you can go 90 thousandth over size on truck drums. So 12 inches plus 90 in your case. Not sure if that's true for every state.

I did find the specification in the shop manual. It states .060" for brakes under 4" wide and .120" over 4"
