1968 IH c1100

I have a 1968 1100c. A lot more rust under dash then I thought. Each side is rusted out completely. The round sheet metal on each side under the dash was dangling and all sheet metal around it is rusted out so bad I can't tell what is what. I was hoping someone had some good pics of his area they could send me or post. That way I can tell how to form it back with new sheet metal.

Little worried this is above my skill but going to give it a good effort and try

Also the heater under dash on passenger side is rusted out and doesn't work. Can that be sent off to someone for repair or can you buy a new aftermarket one?

The pic included is on the driver side. I have already pulled dash, steering column and etc.

This is the piece I am not sure about it was completely rusted out on both sides.
In fact these were laying under dash when I took it apart. Not sure how they go so I can cut out rusted areas and re weld.

Any tips or help be grately appreciated.

Tau44, welcome to the site. I have a 1965 D1100 4X4 1/2 ton p/u. it has the similar problem under the dash, corners and cab @ inner fender well { L } side, its typical for the 60 models especially if they sat outside. I plan on tearing mine apart in the next year or so and i am just gonna start welding new sheet metal in. The { R } side is ok so i will just use that as a reference. It always turns into {MAJOR PROJECT} real quick. dont it? GOOD LUCK.. :D

Not new, but used. There are several good rust-free 60s trucks out at TeePee auto wrecking in Sunnyside WA- if that's anywhere near you. (I'm probably gonna regret promoting this place someday, but if they get sales off their old binders at least they won't be scrapping them. :? )

Removing a cab in a junkyard would be tortuous- might look for a parts truck so you can work on it at home

If you do repair what you've got make sure to post up lots of pics. I'll be interested to see how it's going

I have a hard time making out what I'm looking at in that picture. I'll try to get out to mine this weekend and get some pics. My dash is completly out so it should be easy. If you want shots of anything in particular let me know. Mines a 65 1200, but I think the cabs are about the same.
