Does this look like a

correctly read serial number? My "new" B Series is still 1700 miles away but the PO sent me the serial number: B-112-SB-84xxx A.

If so, does the S mean it was built at the Springfield plant? And what does the A at the end mean?

Thanks,
Michael

Michael,
I can answer the first question. Yes, the S indicates it was built at the Springfield plant.

Can't remember which, the letter after the digits was either the assembly line or shift a truck was built on.
The General info page at the front of the parts manuals usually have breakdowns of chassis numbers.
ie; S = Springfield works, F = Ft.Wayne etc. 2nd letter is model year IIRC. That letter is pretty much unused in the manuals, never recall seeing reference to it.
None online parts manuals I can use have that page for me to verify.

Is there an asterisk or dash between it and the digits?
When you finally can look yourself check the frame rail (front DS/Left) for the stamped chassis number,I'll wager there is no letter.

Pretty sure all my Canadian built Internationals have a C in front of the serial number stamped on the left front frame rail. R, S and B series trucks.
