Re: Converting from a single brake line to dual

It's a school bus chassis which, were required to have dual Hydro-vacs (frame mounted (code 04038)) and vacuum reservoir tanks by law.
The entire system would be incompatible for a light truck.

Re: Converting from a single brake line to dual

After a long winter, I was finally able to take one of my trucks to the carwash to find out the hidden VIN number. I finally did find it. Or most of it, anyway. The '68 4X4 with dual circuit brakes is 1200C 4X4 283205H808543. The one that looks like it, but has single line brakes is simply H645965. That's all the was stamped into the frame next to the steering gearbox and the front spring perch. At least now I know it is not D1000. Does anyone know if that is enough to get a line setting ticket? It might teach me a lot about the brakes, I hope. Bill

Bill, if Wisconsin has it, that should be everything they need.

Re: Converting from a single brake line to dual

Lloyd, I contacted The Wisconsin Historical Society, and found out the letter and 6 numbers were all they needed or wanted. Turned out it was $20 per Line Setting Ticket for each truck. The 1200A and the 1200C have the same codes for the front and rear brakes, assuming I'm reading this right. I know the MC's are different, one is single line brakes, the other is dual line brakes. Meantime I'm trying to learn how to look up part numbers to see if the 1500A front brakes have the same wheel cylinders as the 1200A or 1200C model. After I figure it out, I'll get back with you. Re: Converting from a single brake line to dual

If doing a search for the part number on the internet, make sure you do NOT put in spaces when typing the number. It is reasonable for the brake cylinders to be the same, but needing a different master cylinder for the double line set up, it would require more volume and would still give you brakes if you got a leak in one line. At least that is how I would see it.

Lloyd, much as I would like to share the line setting numbers, I can't seem to post a pdf file. I kept getting an error message. Any ideas how I can post the 3 of them?

Can you "convert" them to Jpeg files, this software does not like PDF. Or you can send them to me and I can try to convert them.

LLoyd, thanks! I'll send them to you, just in case I don't figure out how to convert them. Bill
