1972 to 1963 Frame Swap

How different is the frame under a 72 1/2 ton as compared to a 63 1/2 ton pickup?

Could the frame from the 72 be used to update the 63 is my question as I would like to use the more modern suspension and drivetrain. What would need to be modified? Body mounts....

Thanks

Re: 1972 to 1963 Frame Swap

The two styles are totally different in every way, essentially not a single thing is directly interchangeable without some degree of modification or fabricating.
The '72 chassis and all it's components still isn't going to give the truck a "modern" anything. It's almost 45 year old technology and only 9 years newer than the '63.
Another thing to consider is there are quite a few items for either that are NLA,some may never be found, some only used.

Re: 1972 to 1963 Frame Swap

Thanks for the confirmation / insight.......I am building the truck for my daughter and need to upgrade for automatic, PS and PB. Found a potential vehicle that could be used with all components there......hoped it could be the base to move this project forward. Will continue to explore other options.
