Re: 1972 1110 4X4

No,WAY TOO INTELLIGENT LOOKING TO BE HIM! This guy must walk around with his head up his "SOUTH-END"!! Bought the truck on "Craigslist",in St Louis,Mo.area. Truck was POSTED,as having "NEW" master cylinder,(out of junkyard, for disc/drum,this truck is drum all 4 corners)! "GOOD" tires,(one flat, needed plugged,by ME)!"NEW" Battery,(Both ends bulged out from freezing-JUNK)! "CLEAR TITLE",and I never even got a Bill-of-Sale! DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM: BLAKE WELIKSON!! RIP-OFF!!

Re: 1972 1110 4X4

The day I got the truck,it leaked oil, from the back of the gauge-line broke at the fitting. I installed a new mechanical gauge, and it registers 0 oil pressure. I'm going to pull the valve covers, crank the engine, and check for oil getting to the rockers. If not, looks like I'll be looking for a GOOD 345. Not sure of the drivetrain, either. The transfer case may be stuck in the "Lo" side, too. Just proves the difference in "sellers"! I had GREAT results, with my KB 3 purchase! It was even better than described! Then there's this truck! "Runs Great,New starter and Master Cylinder,Needs flex brake hose to get running". "Clear Title". Only thing GOOD about this 1100,is the thing has new springs and shackles. The frame has been shortened to about the wheelbase of a "Scout". If the 345 needs a rebuild, look in the "Classifieds". I'll sell it CHEAP!!

Where are you located?

I found 2 here;
https://truckpartsinventory.com/parts/e ... _model=345

Might be some under "other", I didn't go thru them all.

FYI,the 345 & 392 were made until 1985.

Re: 1972 1110 4X4

Thanks Scottso! they're asking $650.00,plus $500.00 shipping. it comes out of a '83 1600,with 140,??? miles. Not bad for a 345,though. I got an offer on IH Trader on "Facebook! Guy has a '74 1210,RUNNING 345 4X4,,for $750. Now if I can keep the shipping cost down...

Re: 1972 1110 4X4

I'm sure there are more 345's out there since it was the most produced IH gas engine of all.

Have you checked the oil pump? Should be fairly easy with the distributor removed. A long shaft with a flat end will slip into the drive, use a drill and see if it pumps or not. Easy tool to make, just shape the end akin to the dist. shaft tang.
Maybe the screen is clogged? If the "test" fails I'd drop the pan before going further and check the screen, plus it should give you an idea of the engines condition by what's in the pan.

In the SV8's a "weak link" is the cam & bearings, may it spun one or... ?

I have all kinds of pn's in my head and files I made plus catalogs too for these engines. It may be better to rebuild it and know exactly what you have.

Re: 1972 1110 4X4

Thanks,Scottso! Engine started and idled a couple of times for 5 minutes or so,before i replaced the gauge. No valve train rattle,or rod knock. It SOUNDS GOOD. I'm planning on removing the dist.,and valve covers tomorrow, and give it the "Pump Test". Even if it passes,I plan on removing the bearing caps, and "Plasti-Gauge" the clearances. Just today,I found a 345/Clark 5-speed/P.T.O.,out of a low-mileage,14,XXX Miles), '65 Loadstar 1600. It used to be a fire truck, and was told the engine runs like a top. The owner pulled it,and installed a 6Bt Cummins, with a newer 5-speed O.D. trans. I answered a "Post" on "Old IHC Trader",(on Facebook),and took a look at that engine, and my "NEW" Donor vehicle,a '72 1210 Travelall. It has a345,4-speed,and looks to be heavy duty axles and suspension. (Rockwell-style axles). The guy owns that Travelall,a '74 Travelette,392 on propane/727 Torqueflite),a '72 1210 flatbed, and a '75 1210 pick-up,8'box! All 4X4's. The Travelall was bought at an estate sale, and hasn't been started in a couple of years. He filled the empty master cylinder, pumped the brakes, and they held, and no leaks! Good foundation,at least! For some reason,it had good spark at the points, but weak at the plugs. When he gets it running,he'll send me a video, and "Seal the Deal". He'll even trailer it 100 miles to join the rest of my "Collection"! Chris has a BUNCH of '71-'75 I.H.C. doors, fenders, and miscellaneous interior parts. He may be posting in the "Classifieds",soon, since I happened to mention this site. If I don't buy the engine,I'll share the asking price, for anyone interested. THANKS!!

:t0213: Chris just sent me an E- Mail!! he got the '72 1210 up and RUNNING!! He has a video on his "Facebook' page, but SORRY,it won't up-load to this site. Take my word for it..."It Purrs Like A Kitten"!! It needs a set of 16>5 tires, but ALl IS GOOD!! GREAT DEAL,for $750.00,even if I have to add a couple of hundred for shipping!! COOL!!Thanks,Chris!!

Nope Bill, the link will not show. says "not in group" You might need to copy it and then try. He more than likely has his "group" on Facebook "limited" in what people can see that he has posted. Does sound like a good deal though.

Re: 1972 1110 4X4

The '72 1210 4X4 Travelall arrived today! In my rush to leave the house,I forgot my camera! The body has a few minor dents, and a little rust around the rear wheel wells. Clam shell tailgate. This is my "NEW" Donor vehicle for the '48 KB 5 Conversion. Wheelbase is much better than the 1110. The guy I bought this from, wasn't aware "oldihc.org",was up and running again. He'll be re-joining SOON!! Chris had a '48 KB 1,back before the "Crash". All of the tractors on his farm are "RED",too! I saw 2 866 diesels, and an 856 gas. Not sure what all he has,but quite a collection of IHC 1/2-3/4 ton trucks, all ranging from '71-75. He lost the rear brakes on the tow vehicle, about halfway to dropping off the Travelall. Then he found that one of the "U" Bolts on the differential broke, causing the brake line failure! he "limped it to the "farm,un-loaded the Travelall, and BOUGHT my '72 1110!! He thought it was "Cute"! Price was right for both of us,and I am GLAD to see it go to a GOOD Home! Now it's time to say "Good-Bye" to this post, and start another "Saga",with the '72 1210 Travelall! Thanks to everyone(ESPECIALLY SCOTTSO),who helped with the 1110 "Battle OF THE BRAKES". He was skeptical about my idea of pulling the Travelall body off of that frame, until he saw the condition of the KB 5! Nice to meet and do business with a fellow "Iowa "Binder Nut"! THANKS,CHRIS!!
