What year is it? Does the owner have a Line Setting Ticket for it?
The SV8's are very reliable and if well maintained 83K is a drop in the bucket. With very few exceptions engine parts are readily available,plus there are even some performance items out there. The carb. is probably a Holley 2300,easy to rebuild and get parts for.
The trans. will be either a Borg-Warner or Chrysler Torqueflite (A727).
Brakes are all drum,front are 11x3,rear 11x2-1/4 both self adjusting (originally). They're Wagner and parts are available. I may even have parts numbers already crossed in my brakes file.
The rust prone areas I can recall are...rear of front fenders (especially with auxiliary fuel tank filler),under hood where hinges mount to inner fender,rocker panels and door bottoms.
If it has the "Bonus Load" P-U bed (smooth side) then top of wheel wells and bottom of tailgate.
On the bright side at least one of the Light Line dealers has some sheet metal parts (new).
Edit... Don't want to scare you off Jamison,one thing I didn't think of at the time I wrote the above was the area I'm from,the Jersey Shore. Being so close to the ocean vehicles can rust fast and bad if not washed regularly,even that isn't always good enough. Plus in winter all the salt used makes for a bad metal environment all 365 days in a year.
Irish Mike has both IH parts Manuals (depends on year) on his site,so really no need to buy one,you can download it for free.
Can't really tell you more without the specs (LST)
