This page has some great reading and Might have the information you need. I di not read it all.
I got the impression that your 1000 may have a BORG WARNER automatic. I do not know. I even read something about the NSS being removed from the transmission and put somewhere on the shift linkage.
I would rather have tools I do not need than to need tools I do not have

Re: Neutral safety switch

First you're posting in the wrong section...a 1966 1000 has an "A" suffix letter and belongs in the A,B,C section.

Now to the switch...
I found some pn's,all appear to be obsolete.
261902C91 IH
3203293 CHRYSLER? Also listed as American Motors on web.
NS-8 STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS

With a little research...
It appears to fit a few AMC models;

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1963-64-65-66-AM ... 566bd76d96
Above is Ebay CANADA

Tried Napa online by applications and crossing NFG. :t2102:
Also SMP & BWP,same thing. :t2102: :t2102:

All I got was the one for the Chrysler A727! WTF??? :biggrowl:

I tried another search;

Maybe one can be found on a different site?

Search of the IH pn;
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=26 ... h&start=10

They're out of stock but the pic matches the AMC switch.

Good luck.

hmmm......I have a model 200, so where do I post ? ? ? ? It is not a Scout, not a 1000, not a letter truck, not a Loadstar, not a Travelall, not a Metro, or .....? The fender badge actually reads "306".

The forums do not specify model years, I think that would be of assistance as to where we should post.

Perhaps the moderator can add some info to the forum headings ? ?

Actually I mentioned the sections etc. almost a year ago and since then as well.

This is from when the Travelall section was added...

"Actually this section doesn't really need to exist as is,it's redundant. Plus TA's were just a "sub-model" in a series anyway,nothing special other than the body.
Besides,there doesn't seem to be any TA's owners as members anymore and there weren't many to begin with on the old forum.

IF posters would just make note of the model number and year (which they should regardless!) I for one can't break out a crystal ball!

There's really no point having different sections for the '57 to '75 models with the numbers involved. Look at the post count for the "1000" section vs. the A,B,C section,not much in the former is there?

The 411...
'57 to '62 there was the A,B,C series (prefix) with 3 digit model numbers ie;A1xx,B1xx,C1xx.
In '63 the "1000" series was introduced ie; C1xxx etc. in '64 the D1xxx et.al. which was retained for '65. 1966 brought the change to the letter becoming a suffix ie; 1xxxA,1xxxB for '67,1xxxC for '68. Even with the new design for '69 the model designations stayed with only the letter changing,ie; 1xxxD.
1971 the "10" series evolved (1x10) from the previous "D" series until 1974-'75 when for reasons known only to IH models numbers went to just 3 digits,100,150,200 & 500.
I've often wondered if the pick-up craze that began in 1976 had started a year sooner what would IH have done?

Also,one section would make it easier on the mods (both of them) as well."

I still stand by that,the TA section still has just 4 topics after all this time with at least 2 L,R,S TA's posted in the L,R,S section since the separate TA section was added.

The logical thing would be to have the 2 sections separated by the basic body/cab style (TA's included).
57-1/2 "A" prefix to the '68 "C" suffix in one and the '69 1xxxD to the 100-500 in the other.
