Re: 75 200 PU Front Brakes

Thanks Scottso,

I did the my LST from the Wisconsin Historical Society. I have 04140 code it took me a moment to find it on the LST and KOI can get them for me. the are a local auto parts dealer (Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana) so I don't have to pay shipping.

Thanks for all the help so far

Good deal they can get them. 8-) I've always preferred the local FLAPS over the chain's but they're a dying breed. :(
Is KOI a small chain? Sounds like they're located in the border area of the 3 states?
NAPA's are nice because they're individually owned/operated,good quality parts but can be a bit pricey IMO and I worked in one for a time.

Do you have a version of the LST you can post? I keep a folder with them and would like to add yours, makes it easier for me. As long as it's close to 8x11 and fairly clear I can "doctor" it to my liking.

Here you go on the LST, I have attempted to attach it

KOI is I guess a 'regional' chain. I like them they are helpful. I Also like NAPA's just the KOI is closer :D

Might just send it to Scott's e-mail, that way you are not limited by size.

Just a thought

Re: 75 200 PU Front Brakes

ok, so first brake job two hopefully simple questions
1) on the inboard shoe, does the end with the 'extra' clip go at the bottom or the top?
2) on the 'anti rattle clip' that comes with the new calipers on the HD brakes where does this go 'leading edge lower brake support abutment is not doing it for me

Re: 75 200 PU Front Brakes

The ongoing saga of my front brakes,
The Good:
new pad are in and the new calipers are mounted, they are looking pretty good.

The not so-good.
I got the first set of brake hoses from Super scouts -wrong mounting brackets :(
got second set of hoses from NAPA, (thanks scotto for helping with the numbers) right bracket, line met up just right but when I went to bolt them to the calipers.........
they wont line up.... the 'L' section is closer to 90 degrees than the the old set and that 1/4" clearance is enough that the top of the L hits the suspension/steering bits.........

Is it safe to bend these? any hints/tips? am I missing something?

Thanks

Re: 75 200 PU Front Brakes

I can't see an issue bending the bracket a little if that's the only the problem and the hose will have the same position as the original doing so.

right, I would agree. just don't put anything in a bind. be sure to look at turning movements and vertical travel for any interference potential.

Re: 75 200 PU Front Brakes

OK, another small step is getting the truck back on the road. Using a clamp and pair of channel locks I 'tweaked' the end of the brake hose and also discovered I needed to knock just a hair of the outside edge of the fitting to make it go on without having to crank down on the bolt long before it was seated.

Next step is to add new fluid and bleed the brakes. It looks lie a 3 person job
1) down at the wheel watching the fluid bleed and closing the bleeder screw when needed
2) One person pumping the brakes
3) One person compressing the button to bypass the metering valve and filling the reservoir with fresh fluid as needed.

Truck repair will be a family affair!!!!
