Power steering 1310

Hi
I have a 1972 IH 1310 that has no power steering. I have a hard time trying to find a power assistant gear box for the truck, so if anyone have some suggestion for a gear box that would fit or even close I will be very happy.
This is the one on the truck now.

Re: Power steering 1310

In the way way way back parts of my mind I remember seeing a generic box that could be put on the older vehicles. I'm going to have to jog the brain cells and see if I can get them working again.

Re: Power steering 1310

I knew I hadn't lost my mind completely.
I did a google search for "generic power steering assist" and came up with all sorts of kits.

EBay has quite a few listed, http://www.ebay.com/bhp/power-steering-conversion-kit for cars. If you keep digging you should be able to find a kit that will (with some modifications) fit on your truck.

Re: Power steering 1310

That gear was used in the 1979 up S-series medium duty trucks (code 05345),they are pretty large, probably too large for a 1310. Not the best steering gear IH ever used either,so much so we stocked a new one after the 1st year they started using them and I even remembered the pn. 490833C91
Then there's the pitman arm etc.,all way large than what was on a 1310.
A set up from a ScoutII would be more adaptable than a 710.

I thought this got moved to the 1000 section where it belongs?
