1974 200 brake drum

Looking for availabilty on a 12" X 3" drum. Local NAPA has struck out.
This truck has Dana 70 axles front and rear.
Was wondering if anyone had any ideas on finding one.
Thanks for your time.

Re: 1974 200 brake drum

The vehicle you have is the "1 Ton 4x4" for model years 1974 & 1975, .....aka the 200 HD.
In previous years in the "D" series of 1969 thru 1973, this would be called the "1300" or "1310" truck.
1969 thru 1975 1 Ton Wheels/Drums have the 8 x 6.5" bolt pattern.

Previous years, 1968 and prior, the Wheel/Drum bolt pattern was 6 x 7.25" so a drum from those vehicles won't work for you.

The Dana 70 axles, front and rear, are only used on the 1 Ton models, and I suspect that yours are geared at 4.88 to 1.

Brake drums will be tough to locate, so take good care of yours and only turn them as little as absolutely necessary.

You could peruse the "1000 Series" Forum for similar threads on this subject.
Maybe there is an answer for a fresh supply of drums in there somewhere.

If you find a source, let us know please as there are a few of us 1 Ton 4x4 guys out here.

Looking for Wheel cylinders as well.
either complete or kits to rebuild them if available.
NAPA came up with cylinders but they had the wrong size fitting where the brake line attatches.
Not wanting to redo brake lines to make them work as I would like to keep this one as orginal as possible.
I appreciate the knowledge on the heavy duty 200.

NAPA has the correct Master Cylinder, Wheel Cylinders, Shoes and Hardware for these trucks.
I have a 1975 200HD (1 ton 4x4) and I buy my brake parts at NAPA.

Still waiting on the front wheel seals and the LF brake kit. Rear end is all back together.
Found all the parts thru local NAPA.
Still looking for a 12 X 3 brake drum if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks for all the input on this.
Great group of very helpful folks on this site.

Should get the brakes bleed this W/E. Borrowed an air bleeder should make the job easier.
I used the brake drum that i took off no more miles that what this truck will be driven the old drum will work fine.
Now to get a factory bed off another PU measured out to see if will fit.
