Uploading pictures that cant disappear over time

Can anyone tell me a picture format to use when loading pictures on a forum that wont dissapear when the member posting the picture deletes the picture from the picture hosting site.
Somtimes good information is lost when the picfures are gone.

I rely mostly on pictures. [poor reader]

Re: Uploading pictures that cant disappear over time

That is an issue, some people, as you say use a photo sharing site. Things happen, everything in my Photobucket account went who knows where. I now keep my pictures on my computer and or memory sticks. If you have them on your computer, you can ensure they are of an appropriate size using "paint" in windows and then load them up to your post. If they are on the site, they are less likely to disappear, but, as we all know, things do happen.

Re: Uploading pictures that cant disappear over time

The short answer is: if the pic is on the posters computer and he/she uploads it to the forum it will be visible as long as this forum doesn't crash, if they use a photo-sharing site like smug-mug or photo-book there is no way to tell how long it will be there and no way to keep it alive on here if it isn't on there.
One of the many reasons I don't use sites like that.

Thanks Ibesq and cornbinder .
I uploaded a picture from my computer to one of my previous posts.
It only took two days to figure it out.
Getting the size right was trial and error. No more picture hosting sites. I have lost tons of pictures in the past.
Thanks Mike

FYI Memory sticks should only be used for temporary storage. Especially as the densities get bigger, the parts become "leakier". I use a USB stick for music in my car. It loses it's bits about once a year, sometimes with the stick being toast.

If you want the gory details of electrons under a floating gate, I can give it.
52 L112, the truck I learned to drive on now sits in my barn.
What I do with it is the next adventure.
