cargo bed boards pic try

OK..49 KB1 with Knox box.
1) inspect bed, 2) remove boards, 3) see what it may lead to

Re: cargo bed boards pic try

Our L110 box will need new wood. We are planning to use treated lumber because it is inexpensive and will not break the bank if and when it needs replacing. I am going to have a local sheetmetal shop shear off some stainless steel strips to go between the box-boards. The strips will be held down with carriage bolts after the strips are square broached.
We are talking about converting our R120 box to treated wood. The box deck will need some rust repair anyway.

Re: cargo bed boards pic try

I was once told that the original bed wood in AD Chebbies was quarter sawed yellow pine. The quarter sawed wood was said to be stronger in the vertical direction and less likely to splinter when something heavy was slid across it. Of course that really makes no difference if someone's not using the bed for its original purpose- hauling.

I think it would be convenient to be able to nail or wood screw a brace to the deck to prevent something from sliding. I just measured our L110 box and it is 80 inches front to back..

http://www.mar-k.com/

these guys make reproduction pick up boxes and cut bed wood for anyone not wanting to do it themselves

I had a 1937 GMC T-14B longbed, they didn't have dimensions for that, I sent them info,
they made me a bed with wood pre-cut and rabbited for the floor, everything came un-assembled in a couple boxes free shipping for $1500.00

they don't make IHC boxes which are welded one piece, But the 1937 Chebbie GMC bed looks a lot like a Knox Kbox Kbed

they sell just the metal strips too in regular steel stainless and stainless with hidden bolt heads, nice people were very helpful to me,
