t-5 conversion.. is it possible?

t-5 conversion.. is it possible?

hey guys new to the site and was wondering if it is possible to put a t5 behind a 1955 ih 220. If there is already a thread on this please point it out. Thanks

depends on how much money you have to throw at it. the issue likely to be the biggest to overcome is what bell housing might be compatible. I don't recall a discussion on this topic.

there is an article on T-56 conversions in this months Hemmings, T-56 is upgraded improved T-5.

it doesn't mention Internationals for some reason though :roll:

My experience says IHC transmission input shafts are different...bigger and longer than comparable Ford, GM, Dodge, etc.
I know the T-5 includes the bellhousing where IHC trans come apart.
Yes, you can use the disc that fits the T-5 but what about input shaft length?
Then there's the difference in bolt patterns.
Not easy by any means, but not impossible.
I personally have not seen a kit or adaptor to do it.
It IS an excellent idea, though.
