1947 KB-5 - What are the tricks to firing her up?

Hi

I've just taken delivery of a beautiful 1947 KB-5.

I know it starts first time, but I've never driven anything this old before, so I'd really appreciate any help/tips on the tricks to getting her started.

Thanks in advance.

Derek

Welcome! When you get a chance, post up in the K/KB forum. We love pictures, if you need some help with that, PM me. Just remember that it requires "double clutching" for both up and down shifting. I grew up learning how to drive the older rigs, after a little practice, you can even "slide" shift using RPM and no clutch. Not really recommended but fun.
Just my thoughts

Well, Carbs of the era of the K series had manual chokes, and no fast idle. Instead they had a cable throttle and choke so you could set the idle up when cold.
Choke needs to used on a cold engine and it will take some experimenting to find what works best if you have not used one before.
Other then that let us know what you are find a problem and we'll try and help.
