Truck Talk

Home

Taken near Belfair, WAWelcome to OldIHC.org, the world’s largest web site specifically dedicated to the older IHC trucks.

The Old International Harvester Truck Special Interest Group fosters the enjoyment and fun of restoring antique IHC trucks. Through the OLD IHC SIG, IHC truck restorers, owners and other interested parties can exchange information while maintaining the camaraderie and good fellowship of an online-internet based truck owners group.  And yes, that is  my grand-daughter Amelia on the Farmall.

Weekly Chat
The weekly chat is usually held on Monday nights at 8pm EST. Deviations from this schedule will be announced here.

Passing on

merv_richardsMerv Richards from Coober Pedy, AU passed away earlier this week.  Merv was a long time IH guy and friend of mine for many years.  Some of you may remember Merv from years ago.  He was not real active here, but helped support the IH cause in that land “down under”.  He will be missed by many.

“Merv’s funeral will be on Wednesday 24th February 2.30 pm. It will be a graveside service followed by a wake at the Italian Club in Coober Pedy. Thankyou all for your messages of support and the care you’ve shown us. We are really touched and blessed to know he had such wonderful friends. Cynthia”

OldIHC’s Truck of the Week!
Paul Anderson's 1966 1000AThis week we are featuring Paul Anderson’s 1966 1000A
BG241 with T4 column shift transmission
Paint is all original (6452 metallic turquoise) except for the hubcaps and bumper. Paint isn’t perfect, but they are only original once, so I don’t think I will re-paint it.
This was a 1 owner truck that was exceptionally well cared for. The original owner passed away in 2004 and I acquired it from the family. The truck was always garaged.
It just turned 11,000 miles. It has all the original paperwork; LST, bill of sale, warranty etc.
Paul Anderson's 1966 1000AThe only major issues were bad brakes from moisture, contaminated brake fluid and a very crusty carburetor from not having been run much in recent years.
Drives like new (no surprise with the mileage). The torsion bar suspension with the light rear springs makes for a very smooth riding truck; better than any truck I have ever driven.

Paul is a partner/owner of Dayton Parts, LLC where they manufacturer Leaf springs. He has prints of virtually every post war spring that IH has ever used up to 2010. Some pre-war prints also. I would be glad to assist if anyone needs help with leaf springs.

If you are interested in seeing your truck here, please send Jim a good picture and some text about your truck, etc.

IH Scout & Light Truck Nationals, 2010IH Scout & Light Truck Nationals

I know that there is still snow on the ground, the lakes are frozen over, and we haven’t seen anything that resembles warm weather, but it’s never too early to start talking IH shows for this year.

To start thing off, I want to talk about the “IH Scout & Light Truck Nationals”. A great get together for all of us IH people. And from their website, The largest, finest, all-IH & International truck and equipment show anywhere in the world. September 10-12, 2010 Clark County Fairgrounds, Springfield, Ohio

Hi Everyone,
We now have all the gliches ( I pray they are all gone) out of the reservation site and it is ready to rock and roll. We have been able to have the Hampton mostly to the IH group for the past few years and it has been wonderful to work with the staff. The website works wonders for getting a room and it is easy to do. The link to the hotel will follow at the end.

We will be doing the BBQ in the parking lot of the Hampton Inn following the show on Saturday. This BBQ is open to all. We have a great time getting to know new friends and catching up with old friends. This is an informal event. Some people have been known to go into the wee hours of the night talking and having a great time in the parking lot. On average we have served about 250-300 people (the exception was the 100th year of IH which was over 800 people). Any and all helpers are welcome to jump in and also anyone wishing to bring something to share would be awesome (chips, desserts, appetizers, fruit etc)

We will do an auction for charity following dinner. If you would like to donate something to the auction please bring it with you when you come to the BBQ. If you have any questions please email and I will get back with you.

Have fun going to all the shows and safe travels. Hope to see you at Nationals.
